These are the perfect type of vocation for anyone with a secretarial or receptionist type of background.  Basically this is the day to day managing of the hospital from the secretary standpoint.  That means organizing appointments, taking calls, and generally keeping the office flowing pretty smoothly.  What’s more the receptionist actually provides patients with forms, and guides them through the hospital’s initial procedure, so you’re really the face of the clinic at which you work.

2) Medical filing and records employment.

These are office jobs more oriented towards keeping patient records in order, and easy to access for the doctor once they are really in need.  This is a pretty vital service, as it has to be done correctly in order for the entire work environment to flow especially smoothly.  But basically this is transferring information from a patient’s chart, into their medical history, so that you can keep an accurate and compiled list of just about every single one of their checkups and medical procedures.

3) Medical office billing jobs.

These are specialized positions in which you handle all the billing that goes throughout the hospital.  That means actually literally creating the bill for services rendered, in a way so that it can be processed by insurance.  While not a lot of medical office jobs are going to require specialized training besides the on the job variety, this can actually take a little bit of course work on your own.  That’s because there are national guidelines that determine what a medical bill needs to look like, so it’s really important that you know all of this, as an incorrect filing can result in the hospital collecting less money for their services.
