The Three Branches Of Personal Trainer Jobs

Personal trainer jobs are appealing on many levels. Here are three directions you can go in if you're interested in the profession.

Becoming a personal trainer can be an extremely rewarding career in which you’re able to guide people through all sorts of different types of exercise and rehabilitation techniques to get themselves fit once more.  This is a career in which you’ll literally be helping people strengthen and prepare themselves for a normal life, despite an ailment or anything of the sort.  It’s just a matter of finding the right type of personal trainer jobs that are going to be the most appealing to you, based upon which section of training you would like to work within.

You’re going to find that there are a lot of different types of personal trainer certifications out there, so it’s important that you find the right type of discipline when it comes to any sort of actual profession.  Typically you can break down personal trainer jobs into a few different categories, and they are as follows:

1) General Fitness Jobs

These are jobs that deal with the most common types of workouts and fitness that the general population participate in.  That means you’ll have to be educated in all the standard types of exercise equipment and techniques that will be within the field you’re most interested in.  There are two branches of actual general fitness, and it’s important that you pick out the style of fitness jobs that really appeal to you the most:

                -Aerobic fitness

These are classes that concentrate on the cardiovascular system, and that means you’ll want to concentrate on your cardio in order to be the perfect trainer.  These are exercises that center on your heart and the constant motion of your body in order to get you stronger and more physically fit.  That includes things like aerobics as well as different cardio machines like using elliptical as well as spin bikes and treadmills for your classes.  These fitness jobs also entail that you have a high degree of cardiovascular fitness, so you’ll have to be prepared.

                -Strength/Resistance fitness

These are more concentrated jobs and take a bit of a different type of skill because they are a certification in a certain discipline.  For example, with something like Yoga, you have to have a great understanding of how the moves work, and why they work, as well as how to perform them correctly for maximum results.  What’s more, something like Yoga can be more spiritual as well as new age healing in terms of how it allows the body to think and relax.  That’s why it can take more work to learn, and you have to be more specialized in order to become eligible for these personal trainer jobs.

3) Rehabilitation fitness jobs.

These are jobs that directly deal with people who have suffered injuries of some sort, or some other type of debilitating condition like an illness.  This is the study of working with them to actually get their muscles back into gear and how they were before the injury.  What’s more, you’ll also find that with just about any type of personal trainer jobs like these, you require the type of knowledge necessary to learn how to work around a disability as well, to prepare them for a normal life in everyday society. 

This type of profession is a lot more medical, so it takes a bit more of a different type of education, and you will need some medical and biological knowledge in order to ensure you’re able to work with people appropriately.  What’s more, rehabilitation technicians also require a lot more training as well as experience working with people with disabilities, so that you can learn how to motivate, keep motivated, as well as so that you understand the limitations of the body when compensating for some sort of ailment, injury or illness.  But this can be the most rewarding career path, and provides you with an opportunity to truly help those in need.
