This is a type of job that many schools actually offer degrees for, and is something that you have to have in tow if you hope to succeed. That means looking into what fashion merchandising degree jobs entail, and usually it’s going to be a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.  You can typically find them all over the globe, as this is a popular enough real life art form, that many people are interested in taking up.

3) Take any job that you can when starting out, so that you can get your foot in the door.

4) Take plenty of photographs.

You need to build a portfolio like you would with any other type of artistic industry.  These are art careers just like any other, and that means you have to be able to show your work off to people.  Just having references that you worked here, or that you got experience there is not enough, new companies are going to want to see what you bring to the table.  That’s why with a portfolio, you can show what you’ve done before, and what you’ve brought to the industry in quick and easy photos that can be viewed right away.  You never know when the right portfolio arrangement could fashion marketing jobs.

5) Always study a store that you’re applying to.

You want to show that you know what you’re talking about before you get into an interview, and that means being prepared.  When you know what the store is selling now, in addition to their current displays, then you are better informed to answer any question about the line that’s available now.  This way, you can also show your expertise in things to change or techniques that can be applied in case you’re asked to do so on the fly.  That will make you shine, and will ensure you’re the first candidate they call to hire on permanently.
